Update November 2010
A Phoenix Life came out at the end of June this year and I am very pleased with it. I am expecting a review in Parikiaki, a London Greek newspaper, to be published this week. One of my friends, Evoula, gave me some very positive feedback on this book, which made me so happy…
Throwing It All Away has now been accepted by Pegasus/Vanguard and I am really excited about seeing it in print. This was my most challenging novel to date and I feel optimistic about it.
I haven’t made much progress in my writing since I finished this novel, mainly because I made up my mind not to write over the summer, so closed my mind to the ideas which kept trying to break through. Then when I finally decided to start writing again I found it difficult to begin. However, the ideas are starting to re-emerge, and I have written a prologue and the first few pages of my fifth novel – working title A Modern Odyssey. I always change the titles of my novels, as usually about half way through the first draft I think of a better one. For example, A Phoenix Life started out as The Second Time Around while Taking Chances was originally called Beyond the Pale.
The first main section of A Modern Odyssey begins in early twentieth century Alexandria, Egypt, so I have been doing quite a lot of research into the city at that time. So now I just have to get on with the writing!
